Avalanche dynamics of fiber bundle models.
We present a detailed analytical and numerical study of the avalanche distributions of the continuous damage fiber bundle model (CDFBM). Linearly elastic fibers undergo a series of partial failure events which give rise to a gradual degradation of their stiffness. We show that the model reproduces a wide range of mechanical behaviors. We find that macroscopic hardening and plastic responses are...
متن کاملFailure of Hierarchical Distributions of Fiber Bundles. Ii
January 23, 1990 Abstract Using the insight derived from the computational investigation by Newman and Gabrielov (1989) of the failure threshold of fiber bundles organized in hierarchical fashion, we prove by analytic methods independent of the specific failure properties of an individual fiber and independent of the specific hierarchical organization employed that the threshold for failure of ...
متن کاملAvalanche dynamics of the continuous damage fiber bundle model
We present a detailed analytical and numerical study of the avalanche statistics of the continuous damage fiber bundle model. In the model, linearly elastic fibers undergo a series of partial failure events which give rise to a gradual degradation of their stiffness. Varying the two parameters of the model, i.e. the maximum number of local failures and the degree of stiffness reduction in singl...
متن کاملContact Fiber Bundles
We define contact fiber bundles and investigate conditions for the existence of contact structures on the total space of such a bundle. The results are analogous to minimal coupling in symplectic geometry. The two applications are construction of K-contact manifolds generalizing Yamazaki’s fiber join construction and a cross-section theorem for contact moment maps.
متن کاملLocally definable fiber bundles
Let η = (E, p, Y, F, K) be a locally definable fiber bundle and f, h : X → Y two locally definable maps. If f and h are locally definably homotopic, then f ∗(η) and h∗(η) are locally definably fiber bundle isomorphic. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification. 14P10, 14P20, 03C64.
